Federal Opportunities and where to find them

Posted by:

For many companies, knowing where to look and how to set up searches to find that perfect opportunity is one of the more complicated tasks. There are many sites out there designed to give you federal contracting opportunities, mostly paid with a few free sites. In this blog we will discuss the best ones for companies to use.

1. GSA Ebuy https://www.ebuy.gsa.gov/advantage/ebuy/start_page.do
This site is only available to contractors that have gone through the GSA Schedule application process and been approved and awarded a schedule. In this site you can set up your email address to receive an email every time an opportunity comes out in your Schedule and Specific Item Number (SIN). You can also respond to opportunities directly through this site.

2. FedBizOps www.fbo.gov
This is the most popular site and posts all opportunities valued at more than $25,000.00. In this site you can register under your company name and set up searches using North American Industrial Category System (NAICS Codes) or by using keywords. You can choose to receive emails daily or weekly with listing of opportunities that match your search criteria. You can also watch Sources Sought and Pre-solicitation opportunities and get notified once they come out for bid.

3. FedBid www.fedbid.com
FedBid is a reverse auction site that is used by some agencies. This is a great site to search for product requests. Bidding takes the place of auctions and contractors can sign up to received emails based upon their NAICS codes or product or service categories.

4. FedConnect https://www.fedconnect.net/FedConnect/default.htm
FedConnect is another opportunity site that is used almost exclusively by the Department of Energy. Many of these opportunities here are also posted on FedBizOps but it has been a pretty good site for service oriented acquisitions.

These are the 4 free sites used by Schemtosh Consulting. Check them out and Happy Hunting for that perfect opportunity to bid and win! For additional help with setting up automated search agents and how refine them, feel free to contact us and we can walk you through the steps.
