I want to beat my competitor’s pricing!

Keeping abreast of your competition and their prices is an important factor in government work. While most competitors will underbid their published GSA or Federal Prices significantly, you can still find a basis for your pricing by researching your competitor. The problem is knowing where to find this information, here are a few different places you can look:

1. GSA Advantage https://www.gsaadvantage.gov/outage.html
This site will show you if your competition has a GSA Schedule and if so what their published prices are for the comparable items. Just enter your competitors name in the search field and see all available products.

2. GSA Elibrary http://www.gsaelibrary.gsa.gov/ElibMain/home.do
While the above site is very good for products it won’t show you the pricing on services, for this you need GSA Elibrary. Here you can search for your competitor and download their published Text File which most contain labor category pricing.

FBO Awards https://www.fbo.gov/
In this site you can search all awards that were made over $25,000 or search by categories or NAICS codes that fit what your company does. By downloading the award amount and then looking up the solicitation documents you can get a sense of what the competition is bidding for these awards.

Once you have this information you can use it to get a sense of what your pricing needs to be. This is a complicated process getting the pricing correct and can take years of practice and experiment.
